The aim is to develop new indicators of the vitality of honeybee colonies which inform about how much they are affected by stressors. The project will use data from a new electronic counter of the flight activity of a colony with data from drone-based surveys of flowering plants in the surrounding landscape to inform the agent-based honeybee model BEEHAVE (http://beehave-model.net/). BEEHAVE will then be used to develop stress tests for identifying new indicators.
Within the framework of the research project PEKRIS II, which is being carried out in cooperation with the University of Oldenburg Germany, the University of British Columbia Vancouver Canada, the Australian Antarctic Division in Hobart (all three responsible for the empirical part) and TU Dresden Germany (responsible for modeling), the TU Dresden is searching for an ecological modeler at the earliest possible date.
We offer a vacancy in the field of social-ecological simulation modelling for synthesis work on pastoral systems.
The DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 2118 ‘Integrating Biodiversity Research with Movement Ecology in Dynamic Agricultural Landscapes [BioMove]’ (Speaker: Prof. Dr. Florian Jeltsch) at the University of Potsdam (UP), the Freie Universität Berlin (FU), the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW, Berlin), and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF, Müncheberg) offers several positions:
The Human-Environment Systems group at Boise State University is looking for a programmer to assist with optimizing code for an agent-based model of endangered species. The model is described in Carter, N., Levin, S., Barlow, A. and Grimm, V., 2015. Modeling tiger population and territory dynamics using an agent-based approach. Ecological Modelling, 312, pp.347-362. Primary tasks that the programmer would assist with include efforts to: • Develop algorithms to effectively upscale the model […]
We experience increasing interest in our services related to agent based modeling. Therefore our Ecology and Environment Department is seeking an enthusiastic and talented colleague with a background in aquatic ecology and ecological modelling to strengthen our competencies in agent based modeling. The position is based in our office in Hørsholm, Denmark. We undertake consultancy and research projects applying and developing agent based models for a variety of questions. This involves the […]

The post-doctoral project is part of the European integrated project SPICOSA (Science and Policy Integration for COastal Assessment System- http://www.spicosa.eu/ ) applying a system approach framework in order to carry out assessment methodologies through system dynamics modelling, regarding a set of coastal zone issues towards their integrated management. One of the challenges for a system approach applied to coastal zone is to combine and integrate processes and components with […]
