The University of Freiburg invites applications for the
Junior Professorship for Modeling of Social-Ecological Systems
with a Focus on Forests
at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources.
In the POLISES group at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ Leipzig, Germany, a three years PhD Position on “Modelling human-environment systems: How to effectively design climate risk instruments?” is offered from April 1, 2022 on with a methodological focus on agent-based modelling.
3 PhD positions are available within the project “Optimal N for future agricultural landscapes: digital technologies to optimize tradeoffs”. The project aims at developing predictive tools to support site specific crop N management for optimal delivery of ecosystem services related to N. The project is composed of three sub-projects, with respective focuses on process understanding; upscaling; and predictive modelling.
SLU is recruiting a professor who shares our aspirations to be world leading within the area of weed ecology and management. We are looking for a person with an ecological approach who will work towards solving the applied problems that weedy plants pose in agricultural ecosystems. For this, we welcome applicants with an interest in engaging in trans- and inter-disciplinary research. New EU regulations to ban certain herbicides make sustainable weed management a matter of urgency for Nordic[…]
We are looking for an enthusiastic Post-Doctoral researcher with a background in computer simulation, agent-based modelling, farmer behavioural modelling or microsimulation to join the BESTMAP team in the University of Leeds and contribute to the development of individual-farm agent-based modelling on farmer decision making, in dealing with challenges in land-use intensification, sustainable agriculture and climate change.
In a nutshell, the position is about modeling viticultural landscapes as social-ecological systems, with winegrowers taking decisions that affect biodiversity and ecosystem services.
Description:
The development of dynamical “biodiversity & ecosystem services” models is central to address environmental challenges and articulate effective natural resource management and policy[…]
The main objective of the project is to identify alternative visions by stakeholders representing a wide range of interests (members of the Park Management Council and landowners whose property shares a boundary with the Park) for the use of ecosystem services inside and outside of the Park that could impact conservation management.
