Agent-based modelling position to develop theories of transformative change in social-ecological systems, particularly in the context of natural resource management and food systems. The modeller will work in close cooperation with empirical researchers and philosophers to translate empirical and theoretical knowledge into ABMs and use the models to test and further develop hypotheses about transformative change. She/he/them will also work on developing methods for causal analysis of ABMs.

The aim of this project is to understand and quantify the roles of sociocultural and biophysical factors in the evolution of linguistic diversity using an agent-based modelling approach. The spatial agent-based model should simulate how and where languages (agents) change, merge, and split over time. You will use linguistics theory in combination with large datasets of environmental, demographic, sociocultural and linguistic variables to define the model rules.

The Center for Connected Learning & Computer-Based Modeling (CCL) at Northwestern University is looking for a
full-time Software Developer to work on NetLogo. If you are a system builder and can design and implement a whole
application independently, this position is ideal for you! Start date as soon as possible. Please apply via [email protected], which is faster than applying via the web site. See detailed description.

An exciting opportunity to improve systems simulation modelling in tackling the complex challenges in health and social care. The project focus is on understanding how personalised, technology-facilitated home care can efficiently meet current and future demands of health and social care for older adults. Systems simulation modelling (ABM, SD, DES, and hybrid models) has lacked a coherent theory for incorporating health-related behaviour—crucial to addressing this topic.

The Department of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde is hiring for a lecturer position (Assistant professor).

The lecturer search is across all the Department’s research themes, with one of the five main areas of interest being complex systems simulation.

The Department conducts research on improving simulation methods rigour, including agent-based modelling, system dynamics, discrete-event simulation, and hybrid models. It also teaches the three simulation methods.

Disruptions, events, incidents, and closures are daily characteristics of urban transport systems. Yet, our understanding of how people change their travel behaviours in each situation is limited. Improving our understanding of behaviour under different scenarios, and development of a robust model of behaviour, would be beneficial to transport authorities seeking to promote behaviour change to improve services.

This project will undertake analyses of changes in travel behaviour following […]

The TerraNeon project (PI : Jean-Daniel Kant) proposes to build an innovative decision-making tool aimed at reducing the impact of human activities on climate and biodiversity by adopting a highly systemic and multi-agent approach. TerraNeon is supported by CNRS Innovation, and Sorbonne University.

TerraNeon includes TerraSim, an agent-based simulator (composed of interacting software agents) to model and simulate: human activities (individual and social), economic activities (i[…]

The Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) is the joint Data Science Academy of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. JADS is seeking an enthusiastic colleague for the position of PhD researcher in Social support for the real-world introduction of AI in critical infrastructure, as part of the ILUSTRE project that focusses on use-cases in the Caribbean region.

You will work on a project, funded by the European Research Council, called Data Assimilation for Agent-Based Models (DUST). The project is developing agent-based computer simulations that can be used to model social phenomena – such as disease spread, traffic congestion, or crowding in busy public places – in real-time, with the aim of providing valuable, up-to-date information to decision makers. Agent-based modelling is an ideal methodology for this type of simulation but has rarely been[…]
