Software Heritage is looking for a Partnerships & Open Science Specialist to expand Software Heritage’s integration in the research community. Your focus will be on managing partner onboarding, promoting software citation best practices (SWHIDs, BibLaTeX), and representing Software Heritage in key Open Science initiatives (EOSC, SciCodes).
Key responsibilities
1. Academic and research infrastructure partnerships
- Coordinate onboarding and support for research infrastructures and research organizations.
- Ensure alignment with the technical team to enable smooth integration of infrastructures using the deposit service.
- Facilitate collaborations with research organizations and implement software archival procedures.
- Contribute to the CodeMeta community effort and metadata standardization.
- Collaborate with communications on partnership-related materials.
2. Project management and reporting
- Contribute to project reporting and deliverables
- Contribute to the OSPO-RADAR project and help advocate for the “Software Assets Dashboard.”
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to track project progress.
- Contribute to project evaluations and impact assessments to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
3. Community engagement
- Support the implementation of Software Heritage’s Open Science strategy in collaboration with the Head of Open Science Operations, as well as with the Open Science Community Manager and the Head of Strategic Communications.
- Advocate for software citation and preservation, supporting the adoption of SWHIDs, CodeMeta, and BibLaTeX @software.
- Engage with SciCodes, RDA, CURIOSS, and FORCE11 to promote best practices for research software recognition and represent Software
Heritage in Open Science spaces.
Qualifications
- Successful candidates will demonstrate self-organization and autonomy skills relevant to their experience.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Research Policy, Library & Information Science, Digital Curation).
- Practical knowledge in metadata standards is highly desirable.
- 2+ years project management or partnership development experience.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Team player: Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills. French is a plus.
Additional skills & experience
- Experience in Open Science or/and open Source initiatives, research infrastructure management, or academic partnerships. Experience within
the EOSC ecosystem is a plus.
- Knowledge of Open Science ecosystem, research software management, and scholarly communication practices.
- Familiarity with academic sustainability models for Open Science infrastructures.
- Background in computer science and software development is a plus.
Working conditions
- CDD contract with the prospect of a permanent position.
- Based in Paris, the role will require traveling to attend various conferences, workshops, and meetings, both nationally and internationally.
