We experience increasing interest in our services related to agent based modeling. Therefore our Ecology and Environment Department is seeking an enthusiastic and talented colleague with a background in aquatic ecology and ecological modelling to strengthen our competencies in agent based modeling. The position is based in our office in Hørsholm, Denmark.
We undertake consultancy and research projects applying and developing agent based models for a variety of questions. This involves the assessment of noise impacts on marine mammals and fish; impacts of oil spills on seabirds and marine mammals and the modelling of spreading of pathogenic organisms and dispersants from fish farms and dispersants from oil and gas platforms. Our customers include a mixture of private corporations (renewable energy, oil/gas, engineering consultants) and public bodies such as environment agencies and other government institutions. We also carry out a significant number of research projects funded by national and European entities. Through our global network of offices, we experience a high interest in bringing these benefits further afield. We are looking for a person who has the right skills and desires to solve these tasks in collaboration with a team of talented colleagues.
Responsibilities and challenges
We are looking for a person who can develop our capacity within agent based modeling to the next level. Specifically the areas of responsibility will include:
Driving ABM development including integration and implementation into DHI’s MIKE software for numerical modeling
Undertake a combination of research projects and consultancy tasks with frequent client contact
Knowledge sharing across DHI units in Denmark and abroad to further develop DHI’s expertise within ABM
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has:
Experience in application, development and design of ecological modelling systems within computational biology, process modelling and 3-D hydro-dynamics
Preferably knowledge of DHI’s MIKE software
Strong programming skills
Experience in project management
Ability and interest in working on consultancy projects with client contact and short deadlines
Ability to train and mentor colleagues
Good written and oral communication skills in English and Danish
