Computational Model Library

Our mission is to help computational modelers develop, document, and share their computational models in accordance with community standards and good open science and software engineering practices. Model authors can publish their model source code in the Computational Model Library with narrative documentation as well as metadata that supports open science and emerging norms that facilitate software citation, computational reproducibility / frictionless reuse, and interoperability. Model authors can also request private peer review of their computational models. Models that pass peer review receive a DOI once published.

All users of models published in the library must cite model authors when they use and benefit from their code.

The MOBILITY model analyzes how agents’ mobility affects the performance of social-ecological systems in different landscape configurations.

The model is designed to analyse the effects of mitigation measures on the European brown hare (Lepus europaeus), which is directly affected by ongoing land use change and has experienced widespread decline throughout Europe since the 1960s. As an input, we use two 4×4 km large model landscapes, which were generated by a landscape generator based on real field sizes and crop proportions and differed in average field size and crop composition. The crops grown annually are evaluated in terms of forage suitability, breeding suitability and crop richness for the hare. Six mitigation scenarios are implemented, defined by a 10 % increase in: (1) mixed silphie, (2) miscanthus, (3) grass-clover ley, (4) alfalfa, (5) set-aside, and (6) general crop richness. The model shows that that both landscape configuration and composition have a significant effect on hare population development, which responds particularly strongly to compositional changes.

A discrete-time stochastic model with state-dependent transmission probabilities and multi-agent simulations focusing on possible risks that could materialize in the final phase of the epidemic.

This NetLogo model simulates the movement and foraging behavior of 20 bird species (classified as urban avoiders or utilizers) across a 20×20m grid landscape representing southern Bogotá, Colombia. Agents follow an optimal foraging strategy (90% of the time) or move randomly (10%), gaining energy from land-cover-dependent food sources and dying if energy falls below their basal metabolic rate. The model compares two landscape scenarios — current land cover (2016) and a proposed scenario incorporating the ‘Media Luna del Sur’ ecological corridor from Bogotá’s 2022–2035 Land Use Plan (POT) — to evaluate whether the proposed green infrastructure improves functional connectivity for avian biodiversity across the urban matrix. Outputs include cumulative patch visitation counts, exported as raster files, used to generate connectivity heatmaps.
